News Page April 2003: News from the St. Thomas world, and updates to this page in April 2003. This page is not an official source of information, if in doubt of accuracy of info please get in touch with webmaster of this page or the info source.

April 25th 2003 - The Norwegian tour opening at Flytten in Haugesund last night went very well. They played in front of about 170 people at the 300-capacity venue, who were a very enthusiastic audience. Tonight they will play at Ole Bull Teater in Bergen at the Ole Blues Festival. The 700-capacity venue where St. Thomas will play along with Real Ones has sold out. St. Thomas will go on stage at around 01:00 in the night, before that the band are going to see Neil Young's live solo performance at the festival.

Thomas has gotten a lot of St. Thomas merchandise produced for this tour. A live CD called "Live In Europe" that has been pressed in a limited edition of 1.000 copies, two different t-shirts, a tour poster, three postcards and three buttons have been designed by tundragroup.com, who also made the cover for the "Hey Harmony" album. Unfortunately, it seemed as if they would be unable to sell the merchandise at the first part of the tour, but luckily it arrived at Thomas' place the day before they left for the first concert. The live CD is highly recommended.

An official St. Thomas webpage will be unveiled next week. The page will feature a very nice design, and will give everyone - even those not attending the forthcoming St. Thomas concerts - a chance to order the St. Thomas merchandise mentioned above. More information plus an address for the page will be presented within the next couple of days.

April 24th 2003 - St. Thomas' Norwegian tour will start tonight, at Flytten in Haugesund. Originally the tour was supposed to start at Fraktgodsen in Voss last night, but that concert was canceled a couple of days ago due to poor promotion from the organizers. The band's line-up consists of Thomas on guitar and vocals, Steven Sellick on guitar, Øyvind Thune on bass and Karim Sayeed on drums. They will be driving around the country in a nine-seat Chevrolet with leather seats, TV, video and air condition. Thomas' girlfriend Ilse will be travelling with them, and in true rock fashion, Thomas' father will be responsible for getting the band to the right towns the right time.

Apparently a guy called Jeff Tarlton will be supporting St. Thomas, at least for the first two weeks of the tour it seems. He is an American living in Berlin, and has apparently made a living playing psychedelic folksongs at street corners all around Europe.

A close-to complete list of all forthcoming concert dates can be seen here. Some dates are still unconfirmed. A concert in Kongsvinger on May 3rd was just recently confirmed, but I do not know at which venue the concert will take place. The day before that St. Thomas will play a football match against another Norwegian band called Motorpsycho in Trondheim.

A schedule of the towns Thomas will visit on his European promo tour will not be presented on this page. Simply because Thomas came back from the tour before I even knew he had left. He visited Berlin on Wednesday the 15th, London the day after and Paris on Thursday the 17th. Everything went well, hopefully there will be a lot of articles about St. Thomas published in the near future or around the European release of "Hey Harmony" on May 12th. Worth to check out are the German magazines Intro and Spex, two of the publications he did interviews for in Berlin.

The Norwegian magazine "Det Nye" will have a five-page feature on St. Thomas in the issue released on May 4th. This is a girlie-magazine, so if you are a guy you can surely ask your mother or sister to buy it for you and claim that you are only going to read it 'for the articles.'

"Heroes Making Dinner" is getting lots of airplay both on radio and television in Norway these days. It has been A-listed on he radio channel P4, and B-listed on the radio channel P3. The latter might up it to an A-listing this week. The video is put on rotation on the music television channel ZTV, while the music video program "Svisj" on NRK2 has the video on the list of videos viewers can vote for, and can usually be seen a few times every day.

In the end, here is a link to www.nudiejeans.com. Yes, this page has now started advertising. But it is for a good case, as members of St. Thomas are now being sponsored with some cool clothes from them. By putting up a link I hope to improve my own wardrobe. But why does a band like St. Thomas get sponsored? "Because we are so cool and handsome." Apparently...

April 8th 2003 - Tonight it should be worth watching "Dagsrevyen" on the Norwegian television channel NRK1, as a news team were supposed to be present at the St. Thomas rehearsal in Oslo today and a segment about the band and the upcoming Norwegian tour will most likely be aired tonight.

Today Thomas and his girlfriend Ilse travelled to Stockholm, Sweden where Thomas will record a segment for MTV's "Morning Glory" tomorrow. This will be broadcast in all of Europe, South Africa, Isral and thirty other countries outside of Europe. Thomas will perform "Heroes Making Dinner" with sing-back and unique dancing maneuvers, and will also pick three of his favorite music videos that will be aired. The program featuring Thomas will be aired on Saturday the 12th, Sunday the 13th and Tuesday the 15th.

On MTV Europe the program is aired between 11:00 and 12:00 CET on the 12th and 13th and between 19:00 and 20:00 on the 15th. Please check your local TV listings for confirmed airing times. In addition to St. Thomas the program will feature Finnish Kwan live in studio, an interview with RZA of the Wu Tang Clan, and interview with Interpol and the top five most embarassing music videos ever. Thanks to Claes Olsen from Racing Junior for the info.

On the official Norwegian album charts, St. Thomas' "Hey Harmony" debuted on the second spot three weeks ago, fell to an eight spot last week and today ended on the twenty-ninth spot. Make sure to buy a copy of the album and tell your friends to buy one too to help it stay on the charts and be in people's awareness as long as possible. If you live in Norway you can buy the album at a nice price at Platekompaniet, buy it online here.

Thomas has started writing new material, and I have been lucky enough to get to hear some of the new songs. They are all in a very early stage, having been recorded solo by Thomas on his digital eight-track in his own apartment late at night the last couple of days, but all of the new songs that I have gotten to hear have shown a great deal of potential.

April 2nd 2003 - Those who have access to the Norwegian television channel ZTV should make sure to watch the program "Z," which is aired between 21:30 and 22:00 tonight. It will feature footage from St. Thomas' concert for Norsk Filmstudio some time ago, where the band's payment for the concert was free clothes from the company's collection of costumes used in Norwegian films in the past, and a promise from the band that they would choose some of the funniest clothes to wear on stage for the concert. There will also be an interview with Thomas. The program is re-run on ZTV on Sunday between 22:00 and 22:30 for those who miss it tonight or simply want to watch it again.

Unfortunately, Bosse Litzheim is no longer part of St. Thomas' The Magic Club. For personal reasons he has chosen to take a break from the band for a couple of months. Karim Sayeed, who has played with Big Bang, Salvatore, Madrugada and Cinnamoon in the past, will fill the spot behind the drumkit. The new line-up had their first rehearsal a couple of days ago, and will have ten more rehearsals before opening the Norwegian tour at Voss on April 23rd. According to Thomas it sounds very good.

Earlier today the band played a concert at Engebråten Ungdomsskole in front of 500 high school students. At the time I talked to Thomas, he was too busy installing the football management simulator game "Championship Manager 4" on his new computer, so I do not know what the concert was like.
