February 22nd 2003 - Be sure to watch Spellemannsprisen on Norwegian television channel TV2 tonight to see St. Thomas perform "New Apartment" during the awards show. If things work out the way they have been planned, the stage show will see band members Øyvind Thune on bass, Ivar Chr. Johansen on keyboard, Steven Sellick on guitar and Bosse Litheim on drums perform in the costumes from the "A Long Long Time" video. As artists will also serve as hosts and presenters of the awards during the show, there is a chance that Thomas will be one of the artists doing this. In addition, Bosse is also a member of Ai Phoenix, who are nominated in the "Best Rock" category for their album "Lean That Way Forever." The awards kick off with "Absolutt Spellemann," an introduction to the actual award show, at 20:00. The actual show starts at 20:20, live from Oseberg Kulturhus in Tønsberg, Norway. There will be a break for news and sports at 21:00, then the award show is on again at 21:35 and continues until 22:40. Straight afterwards there will be another "Absolutt Spellemann" special, thirty minutes live from the aftershow with artist interviews. February 12th 2003 - The five-date Norwegian tour to promote "A Long Long Time EP" was wrapped up in Bergen last Friday, and it must definitely be considered a success. Trondheim, Oslo and Stavanger sold out, and newspaper reviews and fan reports have so far only been positive. The good reviews are well deserved, as the two-piece band consisting of Thomas and Bosse managed to put on an incredible live show in a The White Stripes-setup with only vocals, guitar and drums. Some songs were played with the music from the album played back on MiniDisc and the two singing voice-over in the same cool fashion that "Invitation" has been performed for years. I was present in Oslo and in Stavanger, and I have never seen Thomas in such a good shape, and have never heard St. Thomas sound so well. I had a great time at the two concerts, and I would like to thank Thomas a lot for taking such great care of me and Franziska those two days, it was much more than we could ever have expected. Thanks to Bosse and Ilse for caring about us even though they did not really have to. Thanks to Claes at So What for the fact that we got to see the concert in Oslo. Also thanks to the sound engineers both night for helping me make sure a good recording of both shows exists. The setlist for the last three shows have been added to the concerts section. Thanks to Alf Harald Aronsen for the setlist from Bergen. The song "Cool Yellow Flower Shirt" was written only a few weeks ago, and Bosse heard it for the first time the day before the concert in Oslo. The first print of "A Long Long Time EP" sold out, and the second print took a bit longer to get out to stores than usual due to the digipak-format of the EP. This does not seem to have had a major impact on the EP sales, though, as it managed a seventh place in its second week on the official Norwegian singles charts, and an eleventh place in its third week. Thomas appeared on the programs "Sone 2" on TV2 and "Topp 20" Thursday and Friday two weeks ago, he was interviewed and the video for "A Long Long Time" was shown both times. The same Friday Thomas, Steven Sellick and Øyvind Thune recorded an acoustic session for "Musikkmisjonen" on the radio channel NRK P3. Four songs plus an interview with Thomas was aired last Wednesday. The four performed were "45 Seconds," "A Long Long Time," "New Apartment" and "People In The Forest." St. Thomas and Salvatore will play a concert in support of the piece initiative No War Against Iraq at Betong in Oslo, Norway on Saturday February 15th. Those who did not manage to get tickets for the concert at So What should definitely try to get tickets for this show. The tracklisting for "Hey, Harmony" will not be revealed just yet, but the songs "The Red Book," "Elephants Are Big!" and "Sunny Day" will not be on the album. The latter because the recording they got was not optimal. The two covers "Don't Believe In A Mushroom" by Ring and "Who'll Stop The Rain" by Creedence will not be on the album either. One of these will most likely end up on a planned limited edition album that will only be sold at concerts on the next St. Thomas tour. |
